Thus it was associated with lust and \u201cnon sancta\u201d fun along with drinking and dancing.<\/p>\n<p>The Afro-Porto communities could not continue marching with their candombes down the street and were forced to do so in closed places.<\/p>\n<p>It was only danced in the humble social strata, those of the suburbs.<\/p>\n<p>And \u201chandsome\u201d and suburban people slipped their feelings in dance steps of couples hugging very tight, to the sound of a melody. Tango spread through the brothels.<\/p>\n<p>The most conservative strata conceived him as \u201cvulgar\u201d, he was socially marginalized for seeking sensuality and pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>Its prohibition forced to dance it in hidden places until the arrival of the 20th century, hence its air of nostalgic passion.<\/p>\n<p>It is under these conditions that the dance is transformed, merging the characteristic cuts and breaks of <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Candombe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">candombe<\/a> , with the linked couple of the waltz and the <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mazurca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mazurka<\/a> , (dance in fashion in 1850, also linked couple).<\/p>\n<p>Laying the characteristic bases of tango: closely linked couple, walk, cut and broken.\u200b<\/p>\n<p>In Buenos Aires there are records of the arrest of four men and two women for dancing with a court in 1862.<\/p>\n<p>Until the end of the 19th century, this type of dance was used in the R\u00edo de la Plata to dance different styles: mazurkas, polkas, chotis, habaneras, Andalusian tangos and milongas, in search of a style that adapted to their cadence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why is it called <em>tango<\/em> ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At that time, the place where Africans met and danced was called \u201ctango\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In Montevideo (Uruguay), at that time, the word \u201ctambo\u201d was used with a similar meaning.<\/p>\n<p>The oldest written document from Buenos Aires in which the word \u201ctango\u201d appears dates from November 11, 1802 and is a purchase-sale ticket for a meeting in the neighborhood of La Concepci\u00f3n (now Constituci\u00f3n).<\/p>\n<p><strong>First tangos as a musical genre<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this process, a new musical genre was generated, perfectly adapted to that peculiar and sensual style of dance.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, this new genre appeared in the last years of the 19th century and was baptized with the same name as the meeting place: \u201ctango\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Official sources place \u201cEl entrerriano\u201d (1897), by the Afro-Porte\u00f1o composer and pianist Anselmo Rosendo, as the first formally created tango.<\/p>\n<p>This initial way of dancing the tango is known as \u201c <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Canyengue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tango canyengue<\/a> \u201d, or <em>tango orillero<\/em> or <em>tango arrabalero<\/em> .<\/p>\n<p>The canyengue tango acquired the profile of a defined style, strongly marked by the cut and the broken, with a very close embrace and the bodies in contact. It is a provocative and very sensual style.<\/p>\n<p>But as the tango came out of the academies, Neapolitan milongas and piringundines of the suburban night, to begin to be danced in halls and public or family areas, a new style of dancing appeared, which sought to moderate its most provocative aspects, separating the bodies but without losing the embrace and paying attention to or even eliminating cuts and tears, at least its most sensual figures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The instruments that make tango sound like this<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The instruments used at first to accompany the dance were the flute, the drum and the guitar, but the sound of the <strong>bandoneon<\/strong> (of German origin) was incorporated as something essential to <strong>pianos, double basses and violins<\/strong>, radically modifying the musical sound of tango.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone lazyloaded wp-image-6707 size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6707\" title=\"Shall we dance a tango? 4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.korespa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/Bandoneon-1024x795.webp\" alt=\"Korespa- Shall we dance a tango\" \/>\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bandone\u00f3n<\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong>The presentation of tango in Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 1910 the tango was danced in Paris, quickly expanding its popularity throughout the world.<\/p>\n<p>Its glamor conquered the highest sectors of society and was danced in almost all European capitals.<\/p>\n<p>Those in charge of presenting it in the halls of the old world were the young sons of traditional Buenos Aires families, who had long been frequenting the places in Buenos Aires where tango was danced, to the annoyance of Buenos Aires society, which still viewed it with bad eyes due to its scandalous history.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter lazyloaded wp-image-6709 size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6709\" title=\"Shall we dance a tango? 5\" src=\"https:\/\/www.korespa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/px-by-ArtTower-tango-gbaa9b531d_1920-683x1024.webp\" alt=\"Korespa - Pareja bailando un tango en la calle\" \/>\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Couple dancing tango in the street<\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Its final acceptance took a while longer, until it was considered a need for popular expression.<\/p>\n<p>The prohibitions of tango in Europe indicated the growing diffusion of the dance, especially in the central countries. Already in 1913 there was talk of the <em>tangomania<\/em> unleashed in Europe.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"\">At the beginning of the 20th century, with its worldwide popular acceptance, dance evolved to its current form.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>From the second decade of the 20th century, it received the name of <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tango_de_pista\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">salon tango<\/a> or smooth tango.<\/p>\n<p>The salon tango or smooth tango was based above all on the tango walk.
