It is part of the principle that creators should receive appropriate recognition for their work and retain the rights granted to them by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, Korespa makes reasonable efforts to identify the origin, author, licence or source of third-party material used on our website and to use content only where we believe we have a lawful basis to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This policy applies to photographs, illustrations, graphics, videos, audio, written material and other intellectual works appearing on Korespa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Photographs and images<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korespa pays particular attention to photographic material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where appropriate and where the information is available, photographs and other visual material normally include a credit or source indication close to or underneath the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the material, this may identify:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the photographer;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the creator;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the copyright holder;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the photographic agency;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the publisher;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the originating website;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the image library;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the applicable licence;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or another relevant source.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A source credit should not, by itself, be interpreted as meaning that copyright does not exist or that attribution alone creates permission to use a work. Korespa separately considers the applicable licence, permission, copyright status or other lawful basis for using the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Content we may use<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the circumstances, material published by Korespa may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>original material created for Korespa;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material commissioned by Korespa;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material supplied with the permission of its creator or rights holder;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>commercially licensed material;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material made available under Creative Commons or similar licences;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material expressly released for reuse;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material in the public domain;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material supplied through press, publicity or media resources where publication is permitted;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>embedded content provided through authorised services;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material used where an applicable legal exception or limitation permits its use;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and other material for which Korespa reasonably believes it has a lawful basis for publication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where a licence contains attribution, modification, commercial-use or other conditions, Korespa aims to observe those conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Free and openly licensed material<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fact that an image or other work can be viewed or downloaded free of charge on the Internet does not automatically mean that it is free from copyright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korespa therefore aims to distinguish between content that is merely accessible online and content that has actually been licensed or otherwise made legally available for reuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we use material distributed under a free or open licence, we may periodically review the original source and licence information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is particularly important because websites, repositories, licence descriptions and ownership information can change over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where reasonably possible, Korespa retains information about the source or licence applicable when material was selected for publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attribution and credits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korespa believes that recognising creators is good practice even in situations where attribution may not be legally required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, our general policy is to provide an identifiable source or credit for third-party photographic material whenever this can reasonably be established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A typical credit may appear in a form such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Photo: Photographer \/ Source<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Image: Source \u2014 Licence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The precise format may vary according to the licence, source and information available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are the author of a work displayed on Korespa and believe that a credit is missing, incomplete or incorrect, please contact us. We will be happy to investigate and, where appropriate, correct or expand the attribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Respect for moral rights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korespa recognises that copyright encompasses more than economic rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where applicable, we also seek to respect creators\u2019 moral rights, including appropriate recognition of authorship and the integrity of their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not intentionally attribute a work to the wrong creator, remove a required attribution or present someone else\u2019s work as our own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Altered and edited images<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Images may sometimes be resized, cropped, compressed or otherwise technically adapted to make them suitable for publication across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where a licence restricts modification, Korespa aims to respect those restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also aim to avoid editing third-party material in a way that misrepresents the creator, the work or the circumstances depicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where substantial alteration, illustration, compositing or AI-assisted modification is relevant to understanding an image, Korespa may provide additional information to distinguish that material from an unaltered documentary photograph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Artificial intelligence and intellectual property<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development of generative artificial intelligence creates new questions regarding intellectual property, attribution and provenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korespa does not consider the use of AI to eliminate the importance of copyright or creators\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where AI-generated or substantially AI-modified material is used, Korespa aims to distinguish it from third-party photographic works where doing so is relevant to the reader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our copyright review principles also apply when AI tools are involved in the production or modification of content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Editorial quotations and extracts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From time to time Korespa may quote or refer to third-party publications as part of journalism, commentary, criticism, review, reporting, research or similar editorial activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When doing so, we aim to use only the amount reasonably necessary for the relevant editorial purpose and to identify the source where appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The presence of a quotation or reference does not imply ownership by Korespa of the original work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Embedded third-party content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korespa articles may occasionally contain content embedded from third-party platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such material remains subject to the copyright, terms and policies of the relevant creator applicable, the principles contained in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and subsequent amendments;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>applicable UK intellectual-property legislation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>applicable European Union copyright legislation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Directive 2001\/29\/EC concerning copyright and related rights in the information society;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Directive (EU) 2019\/790 on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the WIPO Copyright Treaty;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and other applicable national and international intellectual-property rules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because copyright law may vary between jurisdictions, Korespa does not claim that a single policy can represent every copyright rule in every country. Our intention is to respect internationally recognised copyright principles and comply with the laws applicable to our activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Copyright concerns and takedown requests<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the care taken when selecting and reviewing material, mistakes can occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ownership can change, licences can be modified, incorrect information can be supplied by a source, material can be incorrectly attributed, or information that was previously available may subsequently change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are an author, photographer, creator, agency, publisher, rights holder or authorised representative and believe that any material appearing on Korespa infringes your rights, please contact us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We take such notifications seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Please provide, where possible:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>your name or organisation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your contact details;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>identification of the work concerned;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the URL of the Korespa page where the material appears;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the location of the relevant photograph, text or other content on that page;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an explanation of the rights you believe are affected;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>information showing that you are the creator, rights holder or authorised representative where reasonably available;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the action you would like us to consider.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not require unnecessarily complex formalities simply to alert us to a possible problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our 24\u201348 hour review commitment<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Korespa receives a credible copyright or intellectual-property notification, our objective is to begin reviewing it promptly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where there is a reasonable indication that material may have been published incorrectly, Korespa may temporarily remove or disable access to the material while the matter is investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our objective is to review credible requests and, where removal is appropriate, remove or disable the relevant material within approximately <strong>24 to 48 hours<\/strong> whenever reasonably practicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Complex cases may require additional investigation, particularly where ownership, licensing or competing rights are unclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prevention of future reuse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Removing an item is not necessarily enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where Korespa determines that material should not have been used, we may also record sufficient information internally to help prevent the same material from being unintentionally selected or published again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the circumstances, this may include recording:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the relevant image or content reference;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the originating source;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the rights holder;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the reason for removal;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>relevant licence information;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and restrictions concerning future use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of this process is to learn from copyright notifications rather than simply resolving individual incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corrections instead of removal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not every copyright concern necessarily requires removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some situations the appropriate resolution may be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>correcting the photographer\u2019s name;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>adding a missing credit;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>correcting the source;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>adding licence information;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>replacing an incorrect image;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>correcting a link;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>updating copyright information;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or obtaining additional permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where appropriate, Korespa will seek the solution that best respects both the creator\u2019s rights and the integrity of the published article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No ownership claim over third-party material<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unless expressly stated otherwise, the appearance of third-party material on Korespa does not mean that Korespa owns the copyright in that material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Copyright and other intellectual-property rights remain with their respective owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korespa\u2019s own articles, original photography, graphics, branding, design and
